YUQIAN ZHANG
A professional Director of Photography, proficient with both 16mm film and digital cameras, with experience in international films, commercials, and music videos.
After graduating with honors from the China Academy of Art,
he was admitted to the Graduate Film Program
at New York University in 2023.
His film Difference was a Semifinalist at the Student Oscar®
(the 50th Student Academy Award™).
The film Norheimsund,
in which he served as Director of Photography,
was officially selected by the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.

DIFFERENCE (2023)The short film DIFFERENCE, as the only entry from mainland China, was officially selected for the Experimental Short Film category at the 50th Student Academy Awards™ in 2023, with YUQIAN ZHANG serving as the Cinematographer and Editor in a cohesive collaboration with the Sound Artist CHING YU HA, aka JIANGRU XIA.

NORHEIMSUND (2025)

The short film NORHEIMSUND, directed by Cuban filmmaker ANA A. ALPIZAR, tells the story of a Cuban girl and an older Norwegian man engaged in a cross-cultural romance, exploring her dreams for the future and the tensions with reality. NORHEIMSUND has been officially selected for the Orizzonti (Horizons) short film category at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, with YUQIAN ZHANG serving as the Director of Photography.
